Lexi is a 2003 mare by Donius W. from the
Pinto-Arabian mare FF Shawnee.
Darlene says:
In 2008 Lexi and I made
our debut in the show ring at the Edmonton Area Gold Rush
Dressage Show, and again at the Alberta Provincials and
Western Regional Championships. Lexi was very energetic at the Gold Rush Show and required a
long warmup prior to each test, but we did manage to
pull off some decent marks and respectable final scores for
our first show. In the Provincial Champions
we finished in the middle of the pack out of 16 horses and
riders and then went on to become the Training Level AA
Western Regional Reserve Champions, with scores of 68%, and
69%. Lexi (and probably me)
were a lot more relaxed at this show.
It was also awesome to
have people come by our stall or follow us back to the barn
to see what breed of horse she was and to find out more
about Lexi. She seems to have a presence about her that is
very inviting and draws people to her where ever she is.
Lexi was
also started in harness in 2008, and
is doing pretty well there, just as
long as we
can keep the energy under control.
We plan to do more work in harness
this winter as well as work on the
dreaded sitting trot so we can
possibly progress to 1st level for
2009.
